Tinie Tempah, who as also recently been nicknamed the wise man has kindly agreed to give us his views on British style. As one of the most stylish male individuals of today, we are almost certain you will be more than happy to listen to his ever so humble opinion.
Tinie Tempah in fact won the award for GQ’s Best Dressed Man in 2012, so we have a feeling he may just know what he is talking about! So what is it that exactly makes the males of Britain so well dressed?
Tempah seems to think it has something to do with their class and the way they carry themselves. It is also about the history of tailoring. England in fact has a very impressive history when it comes to cutting clothes. Take Savile Row for an example.
Then there are the great British designers to consider. The singer’s personal favourites include the likes of the infamous Paul Smith, the iconic Alexander McQueen, Oliver Sweeney and Rake, which was in fact the label he wore to the Brit Awards on Tuesday night.
Apparently Rake is one of the star’s favourite designers, this is due to the impressive cut of the clothing and also how well it fits.
Rake is also a very individual designer and one that only on appears on the catwalk on very rare occasions, which makes it that little more special.
Tempah is also a member of the Dylan Jones’ British Menswear Committee and when asked how he plans to support London’s Design talent this year, he replied quite simply ‘just by wearing it!’ We can’t think of a better way to show a little support to any one of the new season designers. We are sure they all feel the same way and wouldn’t have any problems with Tinie donning any one of their pieces at any of this season’s prestigious events!
Fashions are constantly changing; keeping up with the latest trends can in fact become quite exhausting. However if you intend to spend a small fortune on a certain piece of attire, you will most definitely want to know that the item purchased will stay in trend!
This is why prior to purchasing anything of expense; you should check the current fashion forecast. Watching the latest shows, reading up on style editorials and keeping an eye on what the A-list celebrities are wearing is always a good way to learn of what’s hot and what’s not!
If you are buying an expensive bag or pair of shoes, choose a colour that will compliment the rest of your wardrobe. For example a bright orange pair of shoes may look fab on the shop shelves, but they certainly are not everyday wear. Opt instead for a neutral toned pair. This way you will be able to wear them more often than not.
This isn’t always the case however; if you want to make a statement, choose something in a super hot shade instead! A bag for example in a super hot hue doesn’t need to go with everything in your wardrobe as it quite simply makes a statement on its own.
Never wear too many trends at one time. This might work if you are going for an eclectic look, only a few certain individuals can however pull such a style off.
The most important rule of style is to feel confident in what you are wearing. Even if you are lucky enough to buy into the latest McQueen design, if you don’t think you look one million pounds in it, this negativity will shine through. You will instead appear uncomfortable and anything but confident.
Some things will never go out of fashion and others will come back into fashion, this is why it is wise to hold onto any designer goods, even if you keep them folded up at the back of your wardrobe until the fashions change!
